The morning is forever fresh. And sitting beside my Maths ma’am solving equations… my ma’am suddenly spoke out.
“Oppenheimer seems to be damn good. The English one is 100 times better than Hindi Dubbed.”
I asked about the timings and what the film was about. Trust me, I was a very hardcore movie geek back in Class 8 and 9 and after that, things went off a little too fast. Addiction, Love, Lust, Depression, and Clarity.
So, yeah, pretty unintelligible about films and web series nowadays 🙃
That day, I learned about the fact that Oppenheimer was the father of the Atomic Bomb. And this documentary directed by Christopher Nolan is something very worthwhile, as from the testimonials from my friends and others…
So, I quickly opened up WhatsApp on my self-bought phone (I didn’t take a single money from my Dad, completely bought it from my own money, Redmi 11S). And texted Ma, let’s go watch Oppenheimer.
And there we were yesterday, as fresh as the limelight… the scenes collapsed and now, you are in my dad’s car, looking out from the window at the blue dark night sky.
Parking was a little uncomfortable. The Multiplex was a small one.
Booked tickets online. Sat in the auditorium. A little late, 2 minutes perhaps. Bon is sitting next to me. She is in grade 1, what can she understand all these things…
But yet, family that goes together, stays together.
Just joking, there was no one to take care of her at home, that’s why we had to take her to the cinema hall…
It was a triple-plot film… coping through the sequences seem a little tough in the beginning. First, there is Oppenheimer’s private trial going on. Then there is Strauss attacking Oppenheimer. And third, there is Oppenheimer’s own personal story.
Perhaps, every genius was crazy.
Breaking plates while performing experiments, because he had no sleep at night… he was thinking of an imaginary universe. The thoughts frightened and shook him through his periods of sleep at night.
The quantum particles ran through his brain.
How could light be both wave and particle? Paradox?
Yup, and yet it works.
Fast forward, we realize in the movie that the inner story lies in the egocentric battle between Strauss and Oppenheimer.
Strauss was publicly called, ‘Sandwich’ by Oppenheimer and then, there was another incident when Einstein didn’t look Strauss in the eye, so he thought that Oppenheimer had bad-mouthed him to Einstein.
And that’s what EGO does to people. It burns faster than fire. And consumes even more.
Strauss launches attacks on Oppenheimer due to his personal reasons and still, he thinks that Oppenheimer turned every other scientist against Strauss.
Well, a good part about Hollywood is that the truth always wins in the end.
Oppenheimer is booked to be the director of the Hydrogen bomb project of the USA and guess what, after 2 years and 2 Billion dollars spent… Los Alamos is the house of the world’s best scientists building the bomb that would forever ‘change the history of mankind’ - Oppenheimer…
Watched Oppenheimer? On a scale of ten, how much would you rate Oppenheimer? Comment below :)
Oppenheimer knew what would happen if that single bomb fell on a country. That’s what happened in Japan. over 222000 people died in the following days… And here’s what happened: Oppenheimer felt blood on his hands.
It’s guilt.
Obviously, something which is technically your creation is now used for destruction for your own kind.
How would God feel if he saw his own children trying to destroy each other in these wars? He is helpless. And yet he might know that things would pass with the time that comes…
One has to accept. Perhaps, acceptance is a way of life.
Oppenheimer’s experience must be different.
Jean kills herself because Oppenheimer didn’t answer. He now thinks that he is to be blamed. But think of it this way…
Creating something over 2 years and now, seeing that your own creation is out there in the godamn world, destroying mankind…
Oppenheimer is a man of upstanding character. But the truth is your fame blinds you. And in your blindness, you might harm someone else. That’s what he did with Strauss.
‘Now I Am Become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.’ The Story of Oppenheimer’s Infamous Quote
LIFE IS FULL OF SCAMS… And trust me, it would have been a better world if things would have been a lot better if someone told him the shitty things that might happen… Well, check out that blog post. That might be relatable ;)
In the end… you realize that the entire movie was a very critically portrayed - game of CHOICES. Choices that Oppenheimer made. From making that relationship with Jean to the point where he affirmed that he was the right man for the Manhattan Project.
The atom bomb massacre wasn’t his fault. Just like Truman said in the film… all that people care about is who dropped the bomb.
And yet, there you are sitting and listening to the people’s words about you… (in the trial), and you can do nothing but listen. Life passes by and yet, you can do nothing. You are helpless and bound by the consequences of your achievements.
Realizing the effects of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer expressed his strong opinions regarding the regulation of these powerful nuclear weapons by an international decree…
And though he was thoroughly charged and attacked by Strauss…
It’s just like Einstein said to him on the lakeside…
“When they’ve punished you enough, they’ll serve you salmon and potato salad, make speeches, give you a medal, and pat you on the back telling, all is forgiven. Just remember, it won’t be for you… it would be for them.” – Albert Einstein
8 Best Oppenheimer quotes… LeisureByte did a great job
In life, apologizing might not be for them. But forgiveness might make you free. And if things go right, ‘take in the sheets.’
Forgiveness is a long path. And just like happiness, one must never depend on others for their own forgiveness. Acceptance… is a different thing.
And when the world is destroyed… there is you and you alone in your thoughts thinking … And you would think until you are able to grasp the entire fact that you have to accept.
Accepting the consequences of one’s action and achievement… just like Einstein wanted to say…
The world might be a terrible place.
And your own choices and moments of clarity are the only things that might guide you through these dark shadows…
After all, those who seek the Sun, get eaten. Because power lies in the shadows.
